Memories of Mary Jo Patros.

Mary Jo was a very special person. You're extremely lucky if you meet up with more than one Mary Jo in your lifetime.

I think that everyone knows  that she had a mentally challenged child. What most people don't know is that she adopted two more and was raising all three of them when she passed away in 1998.

I've been to her gravesite and on her tombstone is written "My Sis, Our Angel."  She was truly an angel and I know that heaven is a better place with her there.

I last saw her in 1976 when I flew into Youngstown to give a DEA class to local law enforcement personnel.  We talked for quite a while and said we needed to get together again soon.   Unfortunately we never did.

Life has a funny way of making us make decisions that we feel are right at the time; but, in reality we would  change if we could.

Mary jo made all the right choices.----Louie Antonucci

When the good Lord was passing out personalities, he gave a double dip to Mary Jo.  Whether or not a person was in her inner circle of friends, Mary Jo had the ability to treat everyone in such a way, that they felt they were in that inner circle. In 4 years of high school I do not think I ever heard of her saying a critical word about anyone.

Later, when I was flying through Youngstown on United's puddle jumper from Chicago to Akron, Youngstown and on to New York,.  I would always come into the terminal to visit with Mary Jo, who ran the Avis counter..  She was still the bright,  happy person I remembered from GHS.--Ed DeChant

I knew Mary Jo Patros since we went to Washington Ave. Grade School.  She was one of the nicest people I ever met. She was beautiful, yes, but more important, she was genuine.  I never heard her say a mean word about anyone. Mary Jo truly deserved to be Most Popular and will always be remembered fondly by all. ---Pat Godec
