Robert Patrick Dillon

I met Buddy Dillon on St Rose playground in 1954 when he punched me in the mouth. I was the new kid in 6th grade he was the quarter back of St Rose football team.

Bill Carney said “don’t let him push you around”. So on the following Saturday after we finished serving mass (we were both alter boys) a fight ensued between Robert Patrick Dillon and myself (his cousin Dick Dillon stood guard a lookout for Father Cern). It is yet to be determined who won the fight, the important thing is we became fast friends for the next 52 years.

We bought our first homes 3 blocks from each other in McDonald. We knew all of each others wives all of our children and all of their names. We even moved out together 1 time and shared the U Haul truck.

In 1964 I had a wife, a new baby, 1 on the way, no job, and no car. Buddy left for the Army and gave me his car. A 1958 Chevy I will never forget.

Buddy was always there for me and I was always there for him, but I get to write the story.

I would hope people could remember Buddy the way I do.
